SYNOPSIS:

After being wrongfully jailed for four months, Langston Jackson is suddenly released with nothing more than an apology. Returning home, he discovers his house has been foreclosed, his belongings sold, and his grandfather—who suffers from dementia—has disappeared without a trace.

As a brutal winter storm descends on Louisville, Langston is thrust into homelessness overnight. Desperate to find his grandfather, he’s forced to put the search on hold as the rapidly dropping temperatures make survival his most urgent concern. With nowhere to sleep, no money, and no one willing to take him in, every decision becomes a fight against the cold. While those responsible scramble to uncover what happened to his grandfather, Langston navigates a city that has forgotten him, confronting the harsh realities of life on the streets. To find the man who raised him, he must first survive the longest night of his life. AFTERTHOUGHT is a proof of concept for a feature-length survival drama about institutional failure, homelessness, and the resilience of the human spirit.
